The Fort Atkinson Historical Society has purchased a property adjacent to the Hoard Historical Museum and National Dairy Shrine Museum, located at 423 Whitewater Avenue. The acquisition was made possible by society funds, after the previous owners approached the museum offering the property for sale. According to Museum Director Merrilee Lee, the opportunity to purchase the last adjacent lot was unexpected but too significant to pass up, as it provides a rare chance for future expansion. While the board has not yet decided on the property’s use, options include expanding event space, gardens, and parking. Community members are invited to share their ideas through a survey available on the museum’s website starting September 15.
