The Hoard Historical Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with free admission and a suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family to help preserve local history. The museum is family-friendly, offering scavenger hunts, a Kids’ Korner, and other activities, making it a great destination for visitors of all ages. We are also handicap accessible, with parking available at the museum’s location on Whitewater Avenue in Fort Atkinson.

Long Term Exhibitions

Our long-term exhibitions at the Hoard Historical Museum bring Fort Atkinson’s rich history to life, from its earliest inhabitants to the present day. Visitors can explore engaging displays on local heritage, including exhibits on the Black Hawk War, early settlers, and the National Dairy Shrine. With hands-on elements and immersive storytelling, these exhibitions offer a lasting connection to the community’s past.

Begin your exploration of Fort Atkinson’s history at the Hoard Historical Museum and National Dairy Shrine Museum, where there is something for everyone’s interests. Located in the Merchants Avenue Historic District, the Hoard Museum is conveniently situated on a corner lot with plenty of side-street parking for tour buses.

We offer self-guided tours for organizations, Motorcoach Operators and K-12 School Groups. Each tour group will be greeted to the Museum and given an orientation to the building and the Museum’s many exhibits. Tours may be reserved with a minimum of two-weeks lead time.
