Begin your exploration of Fort Atkinson’s history at the Hoard Historical Museum and National Dairy Shrine Museum, where there is something for everyone’s interests. Located in the Merchants Avenue Historic District, the Hoard Museum is conveniently situated on a corner lot with plenty of side-street parking for tour buses.
We offer self-guided tours for organizations, Motorcoach Operators and K-12 School Groups. Each tour group will be greeted to the Museum and given an orientation to the building and the Museum’s many exhibits. Tours may be reserved with a minimum of two-weeks lead time.

School Group Tours:
Come explore the one or all of the museum exhibits with your group. Allow approximately a minimum of 30 minutes per exhibit: Mounds Gallery, Lincoln Era Library, Historic Hoard House, and National Dairy Shrine Museum.

The self-guided tour experience allows visitors to experience the Hoard Museum exhibits on their own. Visitors are may tour the Hoard House, Mysteries of the Mounds Gallery and Theater, Lincoln Era Library and Exhibit, and the National Dairy Shrine Museum. Don’t forget to save time for shopping in the Museum’s gift shop!
The adjacent Dwight Foster House (built 1841) may be available for tours; please ask when you call or write. The Foster House cannot accommodate wheelchairs.
